Self Employment: Day 1

by Kustom Kissers 9. January 2012 10:51

It's here!  Today is my first official day of self employment.  It is exciting, scary, overwhelming and totally awesome all at the same time.

If you read my previous post, you know that I left state government after five years of service.  I'm too logical and enthusiastic for that type of work.  All last week I celebrated with lunches, cake, a Phoenix Suns games and dinner featuring my favorite foods (thanks, Mom!).  People kept asking me what Monday was going to be like.  What's on the agenda?  Truthfully, I had no clue.  I didn't know how to answer that question.

So here's how my first day of self employment went down.  First I showered and got dressed.  Really.  Staying in pajamas was not even apealing.  I had things to get done.  Next, I gloated marketed my news on every forum possible and basked in the encouraging and envious comments.  See proof on:

Did I miss any?  I'll catch those tomorrow.

Then I went grocery shopping.  If you know me in person, you know that is a rare feat.  I even planned for meals and made a list!  ::GASP::  My hope is to not eat out unless it is a planned event such as a networking function, lunch with friends, or a date.  Hey, it could happen!

In the afternoon I labeled a bunch of lip balm and filled orders while catching up on ridiculous reality television.  What did we ever do without DVRs?  Then I came back to my computer to discover that my daily sales goal for both personalized lip balm and Design Your Own Lip Balm Kits had been met.  See?  Gloating works!  I also found an email featuring organizational tools for entrepreneurs.  Nice timing!  So I purchased that, cooked and ate dinner, went to fitness boot camp in the park, showered again and here I am writing a blog post.  I'd say that's a pretty productive Monday.  What do you suppose Tuesday will look like?

About Kustom Kissers

Kustom Kissers was born out of a crafty girl’s life-long obsession with lip balm. Heather would be ecstatic to find Lip Smackers in her Christmas stocking as a small child. She has since sampled nearly every brand of lip balm available before deciding that an all natural formula was not only good for her but had the smoothest texture and yummiest taste.

Then, of course, she had to make it pretty and share with the rest of the world.
